I would say I began my weight loss journey due to the upcoming wedding of my son. But it was more than that.
Yes, I wanted to look good as I walked down the aisle as “Mother of the Groom” but more importantly I wanted to feel good about myself.
I had wanted this for quite some time but I needed that “nudge” to get me going in the right direction…..the accountability to make me stick to my end goal.
When I began this journey I was a between a size 6 or eight, leaning more closely to the 8, and for most that would seem like a good place. But over the years I had gained 25-30 pounds since high school and I just wasn’t happy when I looked in the mirror.
Menopause had hit and I hated my belly pooch and my muffin top around my waist. I would examine every picture taken of me to see just how bad these areas looked and then feel depressed. So I decided I needed to get serious and do something about it.
I had a friend that had used Mendy for some nutrition issues she was having so I gave Mendy a call. After telling her what I was wanting and discussing with her how her plan works I decided to give it a try.
It was late July when I contacted her and the wedding was in early December.
I have to be honest and say the first few weeks I was miserable. I am a total foodie and I love to cook huge meals for family and friends. I hated having to measure every single meal and snack and I missed being able to just whip up a casserole and add a little of this and a little of that. But in time, all the measuring and meal plans became a habit and I did it all without even thinking about it.
I planned my meals for the next day the night before and meal prepped so everything could be done with ease. If I was traveling I measured out healthy snacks to bring along and ate at places where I could come close to what I would be eating if I were at home.
I soon found out I wasn’t missing many of the foods that I used to love and crave because my body felt so much better putting smaller, healthier portions in it for better fuel. I am a cardio junkie and usually doubled the workouts so I could see faster and better results.
In about 3 months I hit my goal and decided to lose another 5 pounds. I hit that goal in a few short weeks.
I was amazed on this program that I never gained or stayed the same during my weekly weigh-ins. There was always some loss, anywhere from .4 to 1.8 pounds but usually, for me, at least a pound consistently.
I have NEVER had that much success on any other diet I have been on, and when the scale moves in your favor it is so much easier to stay motivated.
I feel so much better in my new body and I plan to continue eating the way I have been while on the plan. When I do cheat and eat something that, to the eye, looks so sinfully delicious…. I just don’t feel good afterwards. The few bites and moments of satisfaction of my old sinful foods just aren’t worth it to me anymore.
I thought size 6 would be my new size but I am actually a size 4 now. My muffin top and tummy pooch is gone.
I am on the treadmill every single morning at 4:30, add in weights at least 4 days a week, and I am functioning better mentally and physically.
This plan is an investment but it’s an investment in your health, mental and physical health, and to me the returns I received on the plan were invaluable.
I feel that Mendy has given me the tools to navigate food in a positive way going forward. I am no longer living to eat…..I am eating to live!!
