aNew Direction For Life: A Kansas Couple

 “In February 2016, my husband Joe and I were very unhappy with our weight and lack of energy and concerned about our overall health.  We knew we needed to act because our health was in jeopardy.

We also had our son's upcoming wedding in June and knew the time was right to do something to help ourselves. We decided to get a personal trainer; fortunately for us, we were paired up with Mendy Lynn and our journey began.

Three times a week, for one-hour sessions, Mendy guided us and taught us about strength training, cardio, and core workouts. There were many times we would get discouraged because we were so out of shape and had a hard time working out and keeping up with the cardio. Yet, Mendy was always encouraging and motivating us while giving us the confidence we needed to persevere. She consistently changed the workouts to make them fun while helping us to continue and improve.

After a few weeks, we were seeing the weight come off, but we wanted to see it drop faster.  Mendy saw how hard we were training and encouraged us to try her nutrition program to expedite our results. Her plan included a balanced diet of foods we liked to eat, without forcing upon us any foods we did not like. We were able to eat meals we enjoyed with few modifications. They included certain amounts of protein, carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, and fat that our bodies needed. Mendy taught us which foods were lower in calories, and how to cut back on fats, starches and sugars. Mendy was very supportive and gave us delicious new, healthier recipes. Being Italian food is a big part of our culture, yet Mendy gave us the tools we needed to incorporate our recipes in a healthier way.

Being consistent with Mendy's nutrition and workout plan, 30 pounds melted off us by the time the wedding rolled around. Our bodies weren't broken, we just needed help to learn how to eat a well-balanced diet by eliminating the ingredients that were harmful while also adding a workout routine to improve our lifestyle. Even our cardiologist was impressed with our results.  We continue to work out regularly and in our spare time we either play golf, ride our bicycles, swim or play pickleball with our friends. Our weight may fluctuate at times, but we have the tools to get it back to the goal.

We are ever so grateful for Mendy and what she has taught us to live a healthier, happier lifestyle. We both now have the energy and endurance to keep up with our grandchildren.”
